What is Sourdough Bread?
Authentic sourdough bread, like the one hand-crafted at the Rustic Sourdough Bakery, does not taste sour at all. We have been using the same sour culture for many years, refreshing it daily. The "so called" sourdough breads and buns at most bigger chain stores or restaurants are often regular wheat breads with the addition of chemicals, sometimes even vinegar to imitate a "sour" note. This has absolutely nothing to do with a sourdough bread like ours. Most of our bakers are from Europe and have years of experience in the trade of artisan sourdough production. We do not use any industrial bread mixes and we scale, round and shape all our breads by hand. All our breads are made without the use of any preservatives and/or other additives like emulsifiers, and flavour enhancers.

90% Rye With Sunflower Seeds (90% Rye) There are very few skilled bakers able to hand-craft this bread. A slow, 2-hour baking process is needed to bake it to perfection.
